A preliminary interview with a psychologist

  • When you register for the "Stress-Free Flying" workshop, you will receive a questionnaire to determine the origin and nature of your anxiety about flying.
  • A month before the workshop, a psychologist from the Anti-Stress Center will contact you for a one-on-one 45-minute interview. Together, you will analyze your answers to the questionnaire and create a personalized plan to help you cope with your anxiety.
  • This interview is a prerequisite for the one-day workshop.

Get to know the world of aeronautics

A better understanding of aircraft flight principles

The first part of the workshop includes presentations by various professionals. The speakers are active Air France flight personnel who can answer all of your questions.

  • An aeronautical stress specialist will discuss stress mechanisms and guide you through breathing, muscular, and mental relaxation exercises.
  • A flight attendant will explain their job, training, and role in ensuring flight safety.
  • A pilot will walk you through aerodynamic principles and introduce you to aeronautics. They will help you understand "air holes," turbulence, and how an aircraft flies.
Manage my fear of flying

Experience the cockpit in a simulator

Begin with theory, then move on to practice. Climb aboard an Air France flight simulator, a replica of the cockpit of one of the aircraft in our fleet. This device is located at the Air France pilot training center at Paris-Charles de Gaulle.

  • The simulator reproduces all the movements of an aircraft. You will be able to experience everything from turbulence to emergency procedures and observe how everything is designed to keep you safe.
  • After leaving the flight simulator, you will debrief with the team to assess how your day went.

An alternative program with our partner, D Stress Aero

With virtual reality, you can experience each phase of the flight at your own pace to help manage your anxiety: boarding, take-off, turbulence, and more.

A program developed in collaboration with Air France

  • Learn about aeronautics and relaxation: The program is based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which is recognized for treating phobias.
  • Gradual and repeated exposure: Fear of flying makes it difficult to gradually face real-life conditions.Virtual reality can simulate these situations repeatedly until the stress is fully under control.
  • Immersion and personalized training: Familiarize yourself as much as necessary with boarding, take-off, and various flight scenarios, including day, night, quiet, or turbulent conditions.

With virtual reality, you can benefit from a simulation environment tailored to your needs.
