Terms and Conditions for the “Time to Think” Option
“Air France”: Société Air France, a limited liability company incorporated under French law, with its registered office at 45 rue de Paris, F-95747 Roissy CDG Cedex, France, and registered with the Registry of Commerce and Companies of Bobigny under the number 420 495 178.
"Customer": an individual who holds a reservation on a flight with an Air France flight number and wishes to purchase a “Time to Think” option in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth herein.
"Terms and Conditions of Sale" or "Conditions" or "Present": these terms and conditions governing the sale of the “Time to Think” option.
“Time to Think Option” or “Option”: an option offered to the Customer to hold, for a limited period specified at the time of purchase of the Option, the fare, itinerary, booked cabin, and fare conditions of their reservation, so that they can issue the ticket at a later date at the price guaranteed during that period.
“Flight Segment”: Air France flight operated by a single aircraft with a single flight number.
“Air France flight”: a long-, medium-, or short-haul flight with an Air France flight number.
“Long-Haul Flight’: a flight with an AF flight number between Metropolitan France and Asia, Oceania, Africa (except North Africa), the Americas, the Middle East, the Caribbean, or the Indian Ocean. “Medium-Haul Flight”: a flight with an AF flight number covering all intra-European routes between Europe and North Africa (Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia), Turkey, Armenia, and Georgia, as well as intra-Caribbean flights (Cayenne, Fort-de-France, Pointe-à-Pitre), as well as the Miami-Montreal and Cayenne-Belém flights. “Short-Haul Flight”: a flight with an AF flight number covering all routes within Metropolitan France.
The Option allows the Customer to guarantee, as stated at the time of purchase, the displayed fare, the itinerary, the originally selected travel cabin, and the main fare conditions applicable to the relevant booking.
The exact duration of the Option is provided when the option is selected and depends in particular on the time of booking, the destination, and the fare conditions of the selected flight.
During the Option’s validity period, the guaranteed fare for the applicable booking will not change, provided that the terms and conditions of this Agreement are complied with. At the end of the validity period, if no ticket has been issued, the booking and fare guarantee will automatically expire without notice. After purchasing the Option, a confirmation email is sent to the provided email address, containing a link to confirm the booking and complete the online payment; if more than 24 hours have passed, a reminder email is sent before the Option expires.
The Option does not constitute the issuance of a ticket or a right to transportation; the right to transportation arises only upon the actual issuance of the ticket, subject to full payment of the ticket price and applicable taxes.
The Air France General Conditions of Carriage are an integral part of this document.
The Customer may purchase an Option, subject to availability, exclusively online (via the website or mobile app) during the booking process and before purchasing the ticket. The Option cannot be purchased separately from the ticket.
The Option is not available for certain traveler profiles or booking configurations that require prior verification at the airport or involve special services, including unaccompanied minors, certain requests for specific assistance, bookings involving additional seats (“extra-seat”) or special baggage in the cabin, as well as certain combinations of fares or carriers. This Option may not be available for waitlisted bookings or for promotional, negotiated, or specially conditioned fares that are not eligile for fare holds.
The Customer may purchase only one Option per booking and per passenger for the specified period. The Option is linked to the booking identified by its booking code (PNR) and cannot be split by flight segment or extended to other bookings.
The Option is valid only for the period specified at the time of purchase and for the route, cabin, and fare conditions indicated at the time of purchase.
The price of the Option varies depending on the destination and the number of days before departure and is payable at the time of purchase using one of the payment methods offered on the Websites.
The price of the Option is separate and is in addition to the ticket price and applicable taxes.
Payment for the Option using Miles is not available.
The purchase of the Option does not constitute a deposit toward the ticket price; the amount paid for the Option is not deductible from the total booking price at the time of issuance.
The Option is personal and non-transferable. It is linked to the specified booking and cannot be transferred to another passenger or changed to a different itinerary, date, cabin, or fare combination. Any change to the itinerary, travel dates, cabin, or number of passengers during the Option’s validity period will result in the Option’s expiration and the loss of the fare guarantee.
The Option does not extend the issuance deadlines specific to certain fares, nor does it override the fare restrictions applicable to the ticket in question; it merely suspends, for the duration of the Option, the risk of price changes for the booking in question.
During the Option’s validity period, the Customer may issue the ticket at the guaranteed fare by paying the full ticket price and taxes, in accordance with the applicable terms of sale.
If the ticket is not issued by the deadline, the Option automatically expires without further notice, and the booking may be canceled.
The terms governing the accumulation of Miles and Experience Points (XP) under the loyalty program remain subject to the booking cabin and fare conditions of the ticket actually issued, excluding any rights associated with the Option itself.
The Option is non-refundable. Under no circumstances will the amount paid for the Option be deducted from the total price of the booking.
Air France shall not be liable and shall not be deemed to have failed in its obligations in the event of non-performance of all or part of the services covered by the present contract due to a case of force majeure as defined or interpreted by French law.
In such a case, the Customer shall not be entitled to any indemnity, interest, or compensation for any direct or indirect loss suffered as a result of the failure to provide services.
The personal data collected by Air France for the purposes of the Option is processed in accordance with applicable data protection laws and regulations.
Requests are processed in accordance with Air France’s internal procedures and in compliance with applicable regulations.
Air France reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time.
The purchase of the Option is subject to the Terms and Conditions in effect at the time of purchase, unless a modification is required by law or by an administrative or judicial authority, in which case the modification will also apply to Options already purchased when required by regulation.
Any changes will be posted on the Websites and will take effect on the date specified therein.
